Inver Grove Heights Schools (ISD 199) is pleased to introduce its newest districtwide School Resource Officer (SRO), April Harrington. Officer Harrington will be based at Inver Grove Heights Middle School and will work alongside ISD 199 SRO, Officer Nathan Taarud, who will be based at Simley High School. 

Inver Grove Heights Police Department staff, ISD 199 school and district leaders, and student representatives interviewed interested IGHPD officers for the school district’s SRO opening. Officer Harrington was recommended and selected by the group. She brings a wealth of experience to the position as an IGHPD officer of three years, a former elementary school special education paraprofessional, and a youth sports volunteer.

“I'm excited to have the opportunity to work with kids as a School Resource Officer,” Officer Harrington said. “I had a great SRO growing up who made a positive impact in my life, and I hope to pay that forward to the kiddos in ISD 199!”

Officer Harrington and Officer Taarud will work together to build relationships within the schools and support our students, staff, and families to make our community an even safer, more welcoming place.
